Hey All…
I have been working on a Scanner/Agent set to use in a special library. This library holds Shows with Episodes that are listed old to new by release. Episodes are not necessarily watched in order, are deleted after watch, and may be added out of order at any time.
This makes for an semi-common problem where the episode numbers shift and when the Agent updates the metadata the thumb for some episodes remain with the thumb from the “last” episode.
For example; [this is gonna get weird, sorry]
Existing Show-
Show / episodeA (ep1 date 20-01-01)
Show / episodeB (ep2 date 20-01-03)
Show / episodeC (ep3 date 20-01-05)
Adding episodeD with a date of 20-01-02 results in this;
Show / episodeA (ep1 date 20-01-01)
Show / episodeD (ep2 date 20-01-02)
Show / episodeB (ep3 date 20-01-03)
Show / episodeC (ep4 date 20-01-05)
Everything works well, episodes shift, titles, summarys, dates, all update and sort themselves out… however the thumb for the new file is added to the container and is available to choose with an episode edit, but the thumbs for ep2,3,4 are now all out of order and need to be manually adjusted. ie. new ep2 (episodeD ) continues to display the thumb for episodeB though the episodeD thumb was found and added by the agent and is in the list of thumbs available.
Sorry… getting long… my question is this-
How can I force Plex to display a new thumb found and added with my metadata agent? This can be in my agent or using the API, I’m open to any thoughts.
Switching to a Date Based show list partially solved the problem but caused a new issue with Shows that sometimes include Episodes with identical release dates. (if you know how to solve THAT problem, I’m all ears as well)
Anyhow, thanks for reading this and TIA for ANY ideas.
A.
