Force refresh of downloaded thumbnails

hi guys,
I’m going crazy…

I was having some episodes of dragonball super that was updated on thetvdb as order… so last episodes of season 1 was moved to season 2. today I figured this and renamed correctly the episodes, moved to season 2 folder and rescaned library.
so the episodes are associated correctly but thumbs are the old ones…

I’ve tried to (in order):

  1. remove season 2 folder
  2. rescan and empty trash
  3. delete cache folder in main plex directory, cache in plugin suport directory
  4. clean bundles
  5. stop plex
  6. start plex
  7. move season 2 again in show folder
results? the thumbs are always the same…

If you can repeat this, which it appears you can :D, and you know your names match those on TheTVDB,

  1. Move it back out, update, empty, clean bundles… letting each step finish before proceeding
  2. set logging level to Debug (settings - general - show advanced). uncheck (turn off) verbose.
  3. stop pms
  4. delete the plex logs and the PMS Plugin Logs (in the directory)
  5. start pms
  6. Move them back in ‘one more time’
  7. When it’s quiet, Stop PMS
  8. Collect all the logs in a zip file and attach here.

here’s the log.

i’ve removed s02e01 and s02e02. the first when rescanned resume last image setted by me. s02e02 have no thumb…

in my opionin there are some folders to delete I don’t know…
because even changing thumb, removing file and rescanning in short times , the refreshed entry have same initial thumb…

It seems like your own files are confusing PMS because of how they are named and structured.

Please read this article. https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200220717-Local-Media-Assets-TV-Shows

It shows what PMS is looking for when you give it your own posters and artwork to display.

Uhm…the only file I have are nfo from previous kodi installation. This evening I’ll try to remove this file and refresh…
Did you suggest to remove local media assets options?

Sorry for waiting…
I’ve tried to delete all non video file from directory, move away, refresh, empty trash, clean bundle and remove episodes back…
same situation as days ago…
:frowning:

edit: update…now posters of season 2-3-4 not downloading…and episodes thumb are recovered from episodes screens…
I’m starting to think there are issues with thetvdb comunication.
I attach a log of a refresh of all seasons of Dragon Ball Super show…

I just added a new show (Dharma&Greg)
Text metadata were downloaded…posters and episodes thumb not…
Can anyone please tell me if there are problem with thetvdb agent or last version of pms?

I was able to confirm last evening from the devs.

There was a problem when retrieving metadata in certain situations.

If Metadata is not available in your native (default) language, PMS was unable to fall back to English.

As I understand now, this is corrected and will be in the next release (I saw this notification when i signed in this AM)

Thx for the reply, this issue is applying even to half metadata? As said text metadata are correct…do you consider image as metadata too?

Second question…can you tell me from wich version the problem occurs? This evening I’ll try to revert pms version…

It applies to any information (metadata) which is bundled together under the language tag. Posters are sensitive to this because they often are of the DVD box set or similar and have “Seizoen” , “Season” , or “Stagione” printed on them.

Ok, it’s all clear…

In any case I will revert server version…

Thx man!

so, just to complete…
I’ve reverted to my original 0.9.16 version (in updates I have even 1.0.0.2261 and seems to have the same problems)

Moved out show, clean bundle and trash, delete cache folders, restarted plex and re-move show in, scraping is ok…

hope the issue where resolved quickly… it’s a big problem…

If you reverted back to the previous version which worked, that matches with what I hear. It’s something the devs are trying to work around. AFAIK, and don’t quote me, I think they have a strategy / plan / something they are trying. I don’t have any more details but i do know there’s a lot of discussion about it.

Ok, all clear…
There is a place wherr track those issues?
Like github, bitbucket ecc

I’ve updated to 1.0.3.2461 (from the changenotes seems that bug was resolved)…

adding a show no thumb where downloaded…only italian metadata…
can I have a feedback?

for those type of test I’ve installed PMS on my notebook. With this last version I confirm the issue is still present…

Any news???

I am 20 hours into a “confirmation build” . Just a 'kick the tires ONE MORE TIME.

at 790+ series, 86000+ episodes, it’s nearing completion.

While I have not yet dug deep into the series and episodes yet, I am constantly seeing new poster art coming up on its own.

The devs have done some outstanding work here imho. My internet upload speed is pegged (requests to get more metadata).

Sorry but I don’t understand what you mean…
Youre saying that you don’t relevate the problem?
Because as sayed below in a clean install the problem occurs…

1.0.3 still has some issues with foreign metadata. Try 1.1.0 which is available to Plex pass members.

Is available from site? I’ll give a try with my test server…thx
