I agree. But isnt it a task of a good GUI, Settings layout and description to match the needs of the users and their point of view, instead of being confusing and unclear as long as one does not think like a plex dev? ![]()
Users, I am one, donât always know whatâs best for them.
Iâm the guy that consolidated 28 various libraries into the standard âOne Eachâ to make Plex work as designed.
Iâm also the guy that just recently put EVERY SINGLE MOVIE in a folder of itâs own, 'cause the light finally came on and I could see the reason behind it - after I moved all my stuff into âOne Eachâ Library Structure.
Iâm âone of the guysâ fixing 800 bad HEVC downloads - 'cause theyâre broken - and I canât wait for Plex to alter their players to play these broken files - nor would I wait - 'CAUSE THE FILES ARE BROKEN - leaving me no choice but to fix them once and for all.
I do, however know how to flag tracks to make them work properly in Plex and the above is the best I can come up with⊠'cause itâs correct, according to every user manual Iâve ever seen.
I canât speak to other or multiple languages in the mix - I speak English, RedNeck English and North Carolina Waterman English (if you heard it youâd swear it wasnât English, but it is) and thatâs it. I donât need other languages and their materials so if there are any in any material I acquire - itâs not there for long.

So you are lucky man.
But seriously, when I write a software reference, the first thing I think about is for whom it is intended. Will it be a user manual for end users or a technical reference for other developers? Thatâs fine if all Plex Devs agree that they understand the subtitle settings dialog. They know what Plex is doing in the background. But this is no indication for good software design. The indication is understanding by the (dumbest possible) user.
I donât disagree that much of what is written in the support pages leaves something to be desired in the explanation of whatâs happening and why.
There could be bugginess in this process, but I canât see any of it from where Iâm sitting.
Until Otto gets it all changed - perhaps, for the better, for you. For me itâs all working as I expect it to - even if what I expect is somehow⊠wrong. Itâs the only way Iâve ever known and itâs behavior hasnât changed in over 10 years.
I can only report the news - I could, but I donât create it.
Iâm not denying itâs working for you. It works for YOU. Other users have different use cases, libraries, needs. And you see the confusion that exists. I think that already was the bottom line between you and me a few months ago. You may be fine, others not.
Aâight.
I shall leave you and Otto to work out what happens next.
Otto was already thinking that about an hour ago.
