So I am sure it has been asked, and answered. So I do want to say sorry to ask again. I have looked over and over but I am having trouble finding a straight answer.
So I have a ton of movies. in MKV and MP4 format. I have very few movies that have any forced subtitles in the non-english speaking parts. One movie I have that is driving me nuts is Thor: The Dark World. I have no idea what the bad guys keep saying.
So my question is there a setting that I need to set up in order to get the subtitles? If the answer is no.
Is there a way to add just the forced subtitles to the file? And when I say is there a way, is there a simple and easy way to do this?
Again sorry if the question has been asked and answered. The ones I keep seeing doesn’t make it very simple to understand. Thank you all for your help.
go to a subtitle site like subscene and look for the subtitles with only the foreign parts http://subscene.com/subtitles/thor-the-dark-world
info on how to properly name the subtitle file you get can be found here https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200471133-Adding-Local-Subtitles-to-Your-Media
For Thor: The Dark World, you can try these forced subtitles or these. They work perfectly for me.They should work well if yours is ripped from Bluray. Just rename the file to something like Thor The Dark World (2013).eng.forced.srt and it’ll be recognized by Plex and automatically selected if your language settings are right. If you really want to add it to the file, you could using something like MKVToolNix, but I’d just leave it as external.
To find forced subtitles, just search a site like opensubtitles.org for something like “Thor The Dark World forced”, or Google of course. I prefer Subscene now and usually search for the word “foreign” with my browser (Ctrl+F).
Thanks! I’ll give it a try and see if I can get it to work.

Cool. It shouldn’t be a problem. Just make sure you set the settings to something like this in Settings > Server > Languages. This will make sure that the forced subtitles will be chosen automatically.

I think it would be cool to have a thread where we post which movies have foreign language audio and provide links to subtitles for the forced audio. I usually don’t know if I’m missing forced subtitles until I watch the movie.
