FreeNAS-11.3-U5

Everything has been running fine for several years up until 2 days ago. Out of nowhere I started to lose connectivity to the server and the related media files. Either the PMS plugin became Unavailable or I could not bring up the Manage UI from the FreeNAS plugin screen.

So far I have:

  • Restarted PMS (This usually works for a while, but after 15-20 minutes of inactivity the problem comes back)
  • Restarted the FreeNAS box
  • Restarted the attached devices one by one
  • Restarted the entire network
  • Checked all of the cables

I never lose connectivity to the FreeNAS server itself and can always browse the directories with all of my media files.

Looking for some next steps or advice from fellow forum members.

Did you ever figure out this problem? Same.thing us happening to me

I did not. I’m still having the same problem. Everything else in my setup is working fine. I’m a little surprised that no one has responded. I’ve looked at some similar, but not the same config, questions with “server unavailable” as keywords, but haven’t found anything that works.

If you can always access the FreeNAS shares then it is not the FreeNAS box. It has to be something with the way the plugin or jail is set up. Did you set up the plugin/jail with a fixed IP or DHCP? Did you change anything in your network recently?? Any new devices?? Did you just upgrade the plugin or FreeNAS??

  • The PMS Plugin has a fixed IP. It is the same as it has been for more than one year.
  • This happened once previously and after upgrading PMS it went away.
  • I have had one issue recently and this has occurred once prior to that. My Netgear Orbi Router “thinks” the IP address I’ve assigned is in conflict with my ISP. (it isn’t). I’ve gone back in, reset it to the correct values and everything goes back to normal operation.
  • There are no new devices.
