I have run my Plex server for 2 or 3 years now, and when it is running, it is great. However, I frequently find it offline when I want to use it, and I’m not sure why it is crashing. It has done this for the entire time that I have had it set up, which has caused my family to consider the Plex movies kind of a last option if they don’t like what is on Netflix or Prime. Since we’re all in Quarantine, I would like to fix the stability issues and have it running more reliably. There are a lot of log files, and I’m not sure where to begin troubleshooting this problem and I would love some help.
My setup:
File Storage - WD NAS mapped to the Z: drive. I never have any problem connecting to it.
Server - Is running as a non-privileged user on Win10, and is launched at reboot by Windows Task Scheduler. I also created a Task Scheduler rule that restarts the server overnight as an attempt to make it more available during the day, which made it a little better but I still experience crashes when I want to use it.
Player - The player version listed above is from the admin account on the same win10 machine, but I also access the server from smart TV’s, ipads, and iphones, all of which are running players that update automatically.
What can I do to fix these crashes and keep this server running more reliably?
