Fresh install - nothing happening

Hi,

I am trying a fresh install of Rasplex on my Raspberry Pi B+ and I am stuck!
I install using getrasplex on my mac. Then, I put the microSD card in the raspberry. First boot: I see the partition being resized. Then it reboots. I see the “Plex for Openelec” splash screen, "RasPlex (official) - Version: RP-0.7.0) and nothing… After a few minutes, the screen goes black. After some more minutes, the green LED from my pi stops (leaving only the red one on).
I’ve waited up to 30 minutes and never seen anything else happen. But if I ever unplug the raspberry, the SD card becomes corrupted and it fails at launch stating that there is a corrupted file system.

What am I doing wrong?

I’ve tried pluging in a serial cable that provides no useful information (just kernel launch). I don’t have a USB keyboard to plug in to the Pi at the moment. And I’ve tried to install OSMC, OpenElec and failed pretty much at the same stage but as a plex user, Rasplex is the way I want to go. Portscanning the pi, I see nothing open. I have no issues with non-Kodi based systems so I don’t think this is a hardware failure or an SD issue (class 10 transcend).

What do you guys think?

Thanks

Looks like you’re installing the wrong version, there is one for the RPi B and B+ and one for the RPi B2.

Make sure you’ve got the latest version of GetRasplex Release 0.7.0 · RasPlex/rasplex-installer · GitHub and you’re following the instructions Create new page · RasPlex/RasPlex Wiki · GitHub

Thanks for the quick reply.
I’ve double and triple checked what I’ve done.
The image I am using is this one: RasPlex-RPi.RP-0.7.0.img.gz using the GUI on Mac OS X. Is that right?

Yep, that’s right.

Just noticed that you’ve tried other media players without success, could be a dodgy RPi, to check try installing Raspbian from the raspberrypi.org site, if that also fails then it probably is the RPi.

I sure hope it’s not my Pi. Does that happen often? How can I test?

I downloaded Raspbian as you suggested.
It booted just fine. I didn’t get very far without a keyboard though.

DId you resize the partition on any of the successful install / boot combinations you’ve tried? Could be a bad SD card.

Sorry for the delay, I was away for a bit.
Thanks for the suggestion! I bought a new SD card and… it just worked! Thanks a lot!

I guess the question is now, what can I do with the bad SD card? Should I just trash it, or is there a clever way to use it?

Glad you now got this sorted, you could try reformatting the card in your PC, maybe using for a mobile phone or camera, if it’s really gone throw it away!

Can you please mark this topic as answered, thanks.

Sorry, just noticed this is a ‘Discussion’ and not a ‘Question’ which can’t be marked as answered.
