I need help resolving this,
On what platform is the client running? Does it rely on DLNA, or does it support a native Plex client (Android, iOS, web, etc.)?
MyCloudPR4100. I use windows to access it. Bigscreen VR access it through DLNA. Bigscreen VR for desktop is also availavle but I like direct access to Plex instead of desktop.
I’m not getting any support here. That someone trying to help me may not even be an employee.
We get more help from fellow members that the support group.
Well, you still haven’t clarified what clients you’re using.
DLNA only works inside your home network.
I remember there used to be a Plex VR client, but IIIRC that was discontinued at some point… so the details matter, e.g. which exact clients are in play (platform, version).
I use Plex Server for Western Digital MyCloudPR4100. Bigscreen VR can only access Plex from home. I don’t know if there’s a better way to access it from Bigscreen VR.
Thanks
Their homepage only mentions using Steam VR to play games. There’s a few mentions (on other sites), that they added support to use streaming servers (like Plex), using DLNA.
As mentioned above, DLNA only works in the constraints of a local network. So I’m not sure if there‘s any means for them to join your Bigscreen VR session, jointly watching a movie. I can imagine them having some kind of own sharing protocol (e.g. connecting to your Plex Media Server locally via DLNA, and sharing that through some other means with everyone connected to the VR room) — but there’s no mention of that on their page, at least nothing I could find.
Maybe you’ll need to reach out to them how their app / environment is supposed to work with Plex and watching media in the Bigscreen VR room with friends outside your home network.
