Few days ago, my server hard disk (Windows 10) crashed and I had to reinstall everything with a new hard disk.
Fortunately I had been backing up all the data as explained here: https://support.plex.tv/articles/201539237-backing-up-plex-media-server-data/ and restored accordingly. It took only 40 minutes to have a new server up and running with no issues at all. As suggested in the article I did not make a copy of the cache folder).
The only problem I have seen so far is that the the thumbnails for the photos (several thousands) and for the home videos are gone and not being regenerated (well few photos are, but for the most are not). No issues for TV Shows and Movies.
I am not sure what the difference between TV Shows and Home Videos is with regard to thumbnails. I tried for each library to select the “Refresh Metadata” command but it doesn’t seem to have any effect.
Any expert can help me understanding the theory behind thumbnails and cache and if there is anything I can do to get the thumbnails back?
