I love PlexAmp but I desperately need to sync all my library, not just a 24h of music.
I would like to be able to sync in local ALL my music like I do in Plex iOS. Because I travel a lot I need to be able to play music with no network access or without killing my data plan. Currently user is limited to 24hours and can only download Artist by artist or album by album.
If I add a new artist and a new album to my library on Plex Server I would like it to be synced to PlexAmp automatically like I do in Plex iOS. Any list (All Music, Recently added, Historyā¦) should allow user to download it locally as : full (no limit), (size - more useful from my pov than āhoursā that do not tells me how much space it will take on device) or (hours).
Please ! Any chance ?
Right now I have to go back to PlexIOS which very good for video but not as good as PlexAmp for music !
If not planned may be a backport to PlexiOS of some of the best PlexAmp feature (like direct staring, smart fade, equalizer, artist/album info ) is possible ?
@elan thanks for the explanation. I canāt say its what I expected but at least I wonāt hold my breath for that. Real experience from real use shows that when travelling a lot in many different countries makes the streaming approach not reliable and at least not economically sustainable.
Well, PlexAmp made a good part of the job and PlexIOS is still able to cover the need when traveling.
@Bjoure Itās great to see you know whatās better for others !
And always great to hear ones that think that he hold the truth just because itās the way it works for them.
Iām in no way defending @elan but what is someoneās definition of āFULL LIBRARYā? I have over 125,000 tracks for one music library and 125,000 for another music library. They are separate for my own needs but thatās 250,000 tracks and for someone like myself, there is not one ounce of anger about not being able to take ALL MY LIBRARY with me. Itās a total of 2.5 TB of data in total and I have (4) 4TB external drives as backups for Music alone. I donāt expect to take every song with me, but I do however would like playlists to be able to be fluid (Smart Playlists) so I can take the 2,000 or so with me. I really am curious what someone defines FULL LIBRARY when streaming them on Wifi remotely should be the answer for most it, and download bits of your music via Playlists or Radio stations should be the answer for on the go. Can someone explain how adding 2 or 5 TB of songs on a phone or tablet is the answer to all your problems. It was only 20 years ago, that the first iPod only allowed you to add 5 to 10 GB of music. GBās, not TBās!
@D_eight6 You are completely right and I totally agree. It clearly depends of the size of your library. Itās just a bit of a shame not being able to store locally your library if it fits in 32, 64, 128gb⦠of free space of your device.
And if you agree to have some compression done by plex (especially if you listen Music with not HQ Bluetooth headset like AirPods) you can then store a huge number of files and for some people it means storing almost all or most of their library.
At the end, it is just a matter of having the choice like you have with Plex Player. Now I understand - from @elan explanation - that it is a technical / design limitation. Ok.
That being said I did not tried but it may be possible to store the whole library by downloading all albums, one by one⦠(Huge work, even if my library is not as large as @D_eight6 “s one !).
