I don’t know how many other users have taken advantage of G suite business unlimited storage for backups the past few years but it seams this is now going away.
The replacement Google Workspace is 2TB per user for the standard business class.

I don’t know if you would use any of the other “Workspace” services, but from a pure backup standpoint, you can backup unlimited data to Backblaze for $6/month or $60/year.
Thats for one computer. Their NAS backup prices I worked out as $150 per month
I was thinking about simple external drives. From my understanding, external drives connected directly to the computer are backed up as part of the license for that PC. The only caveat being that if you disconnect it, you must reconnect it within 30 days or the backup will be deleted.
I hadn’t thought about NAS, though. Very true… NAS isn’t covered by the personal license.
For what it’s worth: there are multiple discussions about this on Reddit, where people share the replies they got from Google customer service. There’s still a lot of unclarity, but there are various reports of Google support saying that existing users can stay on G Suite for the foreseeable future and / or that Google Workspace Enterprise Standard still includes unlimited storage (like it says if you go to the ‘invoicing’ option in your existing account), even if the TOS states otherwise. Some people have already upgraded and shared proof that (for now…) their accounts still say that storage is unlimited.
I have stored a part of my Plex library there, so I hope they won’t enforce their TOS anytime soon 
You can upgrade that to 1 year (for 2 dollars p/month extra) or ‘forever’ (in that last case you’ll pay extra per TB of ‘cold’ storage of locally deleted data that you use)
