Game stream with Plex

Thanks for an amazing app , keep up the good work. I have one suggestion/request. What is the possibility of adding a game streaming service on plex where I can stream/play games from my pc on my smart tv or android device like you would do for example with Moonlight ect. That would add a very cool and useful feature for I many of us out there.

Do you mean Plex arcade but with your e.g. Steam games?

While in theory it would be cool to use just about every device with a screen as a gaming client,
it would probably be a horrible experience, depending on the actually used device type.
Some devices are so slow that they only show the video after a significant delay.
Other devices don’t even have means to operate and control games.

The fact that all video data in Plex are routed through the server will certainly not help in reducing lag.

I think you better stick to devices and software which have been proven to do this right.

Hi there
First of all thanks for the reply.
Yes that’s more or less what I mean just that Moonlight links with your Nvidia GeForce Experience software on my pc so all the games listed under the GeForce Experience software and the custom added ones under the Shield settings I can play on any Android device or on my Android TV. I think it would be really nice if you could adapt the plex arcade to stream from your pc also but maybe instead of relying on the Nvidia or Steam database on your pc maybe like its own library for Plex. That would in my view make a awesome Plex a Super awesome Plex and very powerful and way above any thing else in its class. Please give it some consideration.

Again
Thanks for your support and a awesome software app.

Oh btw I’m from South Africa

I understand what you mean by that but even if you only can make something that will work only on your local network ( Lan Connection Only) that would already be great . That’s how I use Moonlight at the moment. As long as your pc can run the game properly and you have Gigabit lan I haven’t experienced any problems so far and I use a Bluetooth Xbox One controller that connects via Bluetooth to my android tv. I previously had a Minix U9 android box and it also works fine then I switched to an Android smart tv.

If you can only use it in the local network, and only on some types of players: why does this functionality have to be in Plex in the first place?
Why duplicate it from already working solutions?
What would be the benefit from having it in Plex?

Don’t forget: this would be yet another feature set which needs to be developed, tested, and maintained – additionally to what is already in Plex today.
All of that costs additional money, if you want to do it right.

Then I can ask the same question to you … why Plex arcade if there is already a load of other applications that does the same thing … why invested money and time into that? This is just a suggestion that I had and for the same reason why I would rather use Plex arcade than the other apps out there because its less apps that I have to install for different uses. I can understand the Netflix and Amazon Prime apps not in Plex because of licensing ect . I just thought it could be a great way to enhance it.

Just a thought.
