You were right about not working on Smart TVs (I have LG with Web OS 3.3 so I was wrong), I tried Spotify and Amazon Music and not working on neither both.
Is there a way Plex can read a cue sheet to know about the gapless info? This is very very annoying, there are records that are unlistenable. Any workaround other than having the whole album in one file?
AFAIK, itâs a limitation of the music player on the TV. Itâs not able to queue up the next song before the first one ends, which is needed in order to do gapless.
Anyone able to get Gapless playback via Chromecast from Plexamp. Itâs good to see casting supported from Plexamp but so disappointing that Gapless still ainât working
Iâll try and check tonight. I always feel like playback over Chromecast is gapless, but maybe I just havenât paid attention, or itâs close enough where it doesnât really stick out.
Iâm streaming FLAC from a remote server and itâs really noticeable, might be different for MP3. If you do check later can you let us know what file type you tried?
Gapless doesnât work on Chromecast with MP3s. So frustrating. As other posters have asked, could we get a list of casting devices that gapless will work on or - even better - a timeline for resolving this? I will be cancelling my Pass if this isnât in the works.
Thanks for confirming Ronnie
Just noticed it super hard while casting from PlexAmp. True immersion breaker. Any feedback from Plex employees about this issue? Itâs a basic feature that any player should have. People who use Plex for music are music listeners who care enough to have their own library and the folks you cater. And if they care to have their library they also care about that feature. Please. Fix.
Iâve cancelled my Plex Pass and have shifted over to Hi Fi Cast (Android). It needs a bit of tinkering about on your NAS, but it works beautifully. As has been noted repeatedly above, you can obviously do gapless on Chromecast. When Plex (and - to be fair - numerous other media apps) describe their product as âgaplessâ and it turns out that there are, you know, GAPSâŠthat is false advertising. Bye bye.
There might have some technical challenges on TV player, but how about desktop application? The gap between songs is unbearable even on MacOS app (Version 1.22.0.1421-be6a7c42), where you should have full control to send request and queue up next track. IMO if you cannot support cue sheet and then gapless playback, you cannot literally target audiophile in your advertisement.
Do I have to be an audiophile to be able to listen a cd without gaps?
What I mean is that the issue is for a broader customer audience.
I still can not play any music for gapless cdâs (Abey Road, The Wall and many many others).
Yesterday I was listening on an Echo Show device and the gapless malfunctioning is also noticeable.
Please fix this!
Gapless playback would seem to be an issue within âPlex for Windowsâ too. It makes for a very jarring listening experience. I hadnât realised just how much of my library this affected. It seems there are technical challenges on some of the devices themselves, but I really hope this can be sorted.
The Spotify Windows App seems to play gapless without issue, so it must be possible.
Iâve been a proud owner of a Roku Ultra for a couple of years now. Iâm also disappointed that thereâs no Gapless playback on the Roku Plex app. My music are Flacs, run on a Qnap NAS w/ Plex Server.
Then last week, I bought an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4G. I loaded the Plex app on it and guess what it? It plays GAPLESS!!! smh
My Roku Ultra will be going on eBay this weekend⊠lol
First, I would like to thank the programmers for adding gapless playback for the iPhone app and Fire TV. Would love to have gapless playback on Roku for my home theater, as I prefer the interface over the Fire TV and the screen saver that displays whatâs playing. Live concert albums are cringeworthy when played without gapless.
Another lifetime PLEX subscriber & Roku user here who would really enjoy having gapless playback. Please make it happen Plex Devs, or at least give us information on why it canât be done. My Firestick does this flawlessly, as do my Android phones. Roku is just another version of Linux so it seems like it shouldnât be impossible to implement.
Another would-be lifetime subscriber here if gapless from PMP was possible (need the 10 foot GUI). Iâve lost track of the number of times/years Iâve been back only to find itâs still not been implemented in the Windows client(s).
This year I got my hopes up again after seeing PlexAmp and lots of mentions about gapless playback so got my credit card ready⊠Unfortunately it seems itâs still stuck at square one?
In this thread someone mentioned using PlexAmp 1.1.0 to enable gapless from any client - so including PMP? I assumed this means I should be able to browse music in PMP as a front-end to PlexAmp and utilise its gapless capability. Well, the closest I got was setting the player source in PlexAmp to the PMP host - this seems to link the two together as playback is mirrored in the little PlexAmp gui. However, this does not result in gapless playback - there is still a 100 ms gap between tracks. Am I missing a setting somewhere?
Someone also said in this thread that PMP was the first client to be gapless? Well, thatâs simply not true as far as I can tell. With PMP playback there is the same 100 ms gap.
I donât know why I bother when it is apparent that the Plex PMs are apparently not listening.
In any case here is a suggestion on how you can achieve gapless playback across ALL client platforms with the least effort: you already use ffmpeg for transcoding on the fly for delivery to some clients, so why not use it for transmuxing all the tracks in an album into a single container (also on the fly), and serve that? The rest is a bit of trickery on the client UI to show playback across multiple tracks. The best of choice of container would be Matroska since it can accommodate pretty much any audio codec. It will work. I assure you.
OR, you could support .cue files for album-long audio files.
the request for cue sheet implementation will soon be 10 years old âŠ
How the hell has this been a request for 3 years and not implemented yet? What kind of developers does Plex have? This is ridiculously simple to do.
They seem to work on new features like Plex Arcade over fixing current features like gapless playback, etc.
