Ultimately I believe the objective of the PMP UI layout should be to show of the media as simply and richly as possible. IMO that means a) Seeing as much media on screen as possible and limited buttons, blank space, menus, sub-menus - without of course loosing functionality or making a cramped layout AND b) To be able get to and play a specific media items with the minimum possible clicks. I think PMP is far from achieving this and suggest the following improvements :
Thumbnails are bigger on the media type page (eg select TV Show media) compared to the primary Home page for PMP. Can we reduce the size to match the smaller size used on the primary home page allowing more media to be displayed.
Can the buttons such as “All Shows” / “All Movies” be removed. The same objective can be achieved by clicking on the library header button which does the same thing (ie shows all shows). Although I know a more contentious issue, could buttons like “Collections” and “Playlists” be removed. Viewing collections can be achieved once a specific library is opened so we don’t need that button on the home screen. Playlists - hmm not sure where else we could put that ability to view them but a button on the home screen in between media is not ideal.
There’s is a hell of a lot of blank space vertically between sections and section titles - this could all be squeeze down by 50% to make more space for media to be show. Ultimately I would like to see at least two horizontal rows of media be seen on screen at once without the need to scroll vertically - yes sorta like how awesome OpenPHT is

Plex never give timescales.
But after the backlash in the Roku section when the last UI hit, I would guess that Plex will get the UNO layout on Roku finalised and then start pushing to other clients.
But that’s only a guess… going on past Plex screw ups they could equally push a half finished interface to everything as they have on several previous occasions.
Your guess is pretty accurate @Xhaka while I can’t share any estimates, rest assured that we do plan to bring the UNO layout to PMP (as well as other TV platforms).
Ok cool.
I will keep my fingers crossed that we smart tv users who were made guinea pigs for the pre UNO UI aren’t actually at the end of the line for it to be rectified. (First to endure, last for a cure)
More so, taking into account the 12-18 months we (and then PMP users) were constantly told the UI is great and we just simply don’t like change…prior to the Roku users clearly demonstrating we were right all along.
Thanks pcalves, so while we wait for that will PMP UI layout improvements be made ? Not a redesign of course but several key features that really should have been included from the get go.
Well you may be disappointed. It’s more likely to be the redesign.
That’s pretty much what UNO is.
Plex track record is, it still seems, push to the masses then re-add all the features stripped/missing at a later date.
While the Roku users in the main tend to be wetting themselves over UNO, having seen it on a friends Roku briefly I was pretty underwhelmed. That said I’m gonna reserve judgement until it comes to Smart TV’s and I can work with it more extensively. Don’t get me wrong it’s a vast improvement even now. For me though it’s nowhere near to anything worthy of the superlatives being bandied about in the Roku area.
While I agree and this was the initial cause of me looking at Emby in the first place, It’s actually the server side that makes it less probable that I ever come back to Plex full time.
No worries about Trakt when Plex pull plugins.
Emby server is far faster and just works locally if your local connection goes down. That’s before we start on if Plex.tv goes down.
Probably the most crucial thing (for me though is full server management via all Emby apps. At work on my mobile over 4G I have full server management and it’s pretty cool.
Ignoring your customers because you don’t have a good answer is not the sign of a professional organization. FFS why do Plex keep pushing customers away with this BS!

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. Our current focus is to bring UNO to PMP and other TV platforms as soon as possible. Response to the UI changes on other platforms has been positive and we’re looking forward to hearing your feedback on it as well.
ok thanks for the update @pcalves. what about bug remediation in the PMP UI - are they also on hold? I’m just worried that UNO is going to take 12+ months to get to PMP and there are already so many disgruntled PMP users that have been waiting patiently for bug fixes.
