So… Any thoughts as to when we will see Uno on PMP?
Since Plex inc. has switched from Kodi based desktop client to the web based to accelerate development - i think UNO interface is already out there, we’ve just cant see it
/s
Hope it will be soon
Been using for some years now and cant stand the pmp interface
I don’t think it is already out there. The Plex Media Player secondary interface ("accessed using the “Enter TV Layout” icon at the top of the screen) is still the pre-UNO interface that preceded UNO on the Roku (6.0.x). When that interface came out on the Roku last fall, users took to the forums to complain wildly.
Even though that interface had been in the Plex Media Player for some time, the issues had not been voiced like they were by Roku users. When the issues arose with the Roku version, I was actually surprised to find that interface in Plex Media Player. I had not noticed it at all. But it was and still is part of the Plex Media Player (version 2.31).
Here’s a link to the post where PlexInfo discusses being blindsided by the s#!+storm that followed that version 6.0.x release on Roku and announced development of the interface that would be named UNO.
If they were blind sided then they are either incompetent or flat out lying.
Every platform that received category first interface complained wildly.
PMP first, Xbox one much later and the iOS and Android. We were just told we are minority hence dismissed at any attempt to explain why its bad.
There was one guy, BigWheel or something that was doing all of the dirty work on the forums (trying to tell us how awesome it is and we are just minority) while rest of the Plex inc hid behind “lets hope they get used to it” approach.
There was a shitstorm when they came out with the interface on PMP… I was (and still am) a user of Plex Home Theater (now OPHT) and this was “sold” as the upgrade from PHT code base… NOTHING was said about the horrid interface… We waited with bated breath :), and we disappointed… And were essentially told is piss off…
Now, years later, the PHT interface is back in UNO… if they had cone out with UNO several years back folks would have been happy…
PMP is awesome maybe if you are watching on your laptop and are using a mouse… It blows if you are using it from ‘10 feet’ with a remote.
If you haven’t read them, perhaps you’ll enjoy Elan’s mea culpas in this post. I think it is the first mention of UNO. Clearly the Roku s#!+storm finally got their attention.
Yes… I agree… and did read…
I feel vindicated… the interface the was said to be outdated (back with PMP) is now the interface they are moving to.
Plex Home Theater with Mediastream skin had by far the best UI, and that was around 10 years ago. PMP UI was unuseable for me… I’m still using PHT for that reason. So this new UNO interface… I’ve been looking at some screenshots but the only ones I see are grid view. Does anyone have any screenshots of List View? For the love of god please let it be decent.
If u have roku
It is close to pht… If they put it on pmp i will probs switch
Except it is still a web app (PMP). If you forget about the (horrible) interface and just focus on how fast it loads and switched between the screens, you will see that it’s decently slower than OPHT.
It’s 2019, i should not be seeing loading thumbnails. I didnt see loading thumbnails in 2009 , why the eff am i seeing it now ?
