Plex Web w/UNO UI

Overall the UNO UI on Plex web is fine. Didn’t have a ton of time to play with it but I like being able to reorder things and pin them to the main display.

A couple of comments

In the old interface there was an option at the top to “scan all libraries” I can’t find that now.

The need to have a server side setting that defaults all the clients to the same layout is becoming really important. The inconsistency leads to confusion for older family members and I have had to resort to writing down the order I am putting things in just so I can emulate it correctly from device to device. Perhaps now that the UI is in Plex Web you can add a setting that defaults the order to match the web UI when a new client first comes online. That would be very helpful.

I deleted a library and it took forever to delete. When I finally got control of the UI back the entry was still pined with a yellow icon next to it. I had to unpin it for it to remove. Not a huge deal but seems like unneeded behavior.

The size of the text in the library bar is just way to big. Please shrink that down like it used to be. (This is a bit of a problem on all the UNO UI’s). Not only do I have to scroll up and down but it cuts off the name of my libraries. See pic below

You can do that under Settings - Manage - Libraries now.

This is a known bug, mentioned here https://forums.plex.tv/t/plex-web-with-uno-ui/414286/1
It is slated to be fixed.

The action is also available in “More” next to the server headers.

I agree with this. The padding is to much in the sidebar for a desktop experience. Using a mouse, you don’t need such a big target to hit. This is my only feedback for the UNO Plex Web so far.

“You can do that under Settings - Manage - Libraries now.”

Too many steps. Isn’t this one of the biggest complaints about the Pre UNO “new” UI?

Why not just add the more options context to the home selection?

Home can be a mix of servers and online sources like Podcasts, Web Shows, etc. An action specific to a single server might not make sense in most cases attached to Home.

It doesn’t have to be on the home section.

Mainly a function on web to scan all libraries, similar to current placement, would be nice.

Just don’t put it three clicks deep.

I would agree on this one. The spacing in the “MORE >” sub-menu is more pleasing to the eye.

Try adding datasources from other servers and / or other users to the side bar. Then it’ll start making sense.

I can’t tell you if that is better or not. I only have my own PMS server. Which is the only thing I can refer to :wink:

EDIT: Sorry!, didn’t see - that this was for mobile app (thought plex-web) :man_facepalming:

I was indeed referring to the web app.

I agree with other that the line spacing and font size is too big in the side bar (under the More option it’s much better to look at due to smaller size)

I have unpinned everything except my main 4 libraries that i use all the time, this makes it a nicer experience as it’s reduced the scrolling up/down as all is seen on the screen at the same time

For me the only thing so far is also the item spacing. I use the following as an injected stylesheet.

div[class*="SourceSidebarLink-button"] {
	min-height: 42px;
	line-height: 42px;
}

Thats not a terrible idea and would be a solution to the ordering problem but the biggest issue for me is the limited number of characters displayed. For example:

Old Layout:
Music (Comedy)

Uno Layout:
Music (Come…

Uno Layout with Numbers:
01 Music (Co

The overall spacing/font size is just enormous across all of UNO and I can see no good reason for it. Even on a 32 Inch TV the bar is huge (roku). Shrink that down so the same number of characters as before and I am pretty much a happy camper.

Sorry - hadn’t had my Coffee this morning when I read that post.

I can’t find the “clean bundle” and “optimize database” thingies anymore. Are they gone?

Please make it mobile friendly. How and why you create a web interface that isn’t mobile friendly in 2019 completely baffles me

I can’t even get passed the first screen where I select my preferred server on my phone because my tap registers for the “back button” on the second screen at the same time… Terrible.

They are now in Settings - Manage - Troubleshooting

I see that when you begin playing a video you still cannot have the video start without the player controls popping up over the video for the first 3 seconds covering the bottom and top of the screen. Any attempt to pause/resume a video by either hitting the space bar or mouse click makes the annoying player controls pop up too.

Hey Plex, how about a way to NOT have these annoying controls covering the video? I’d like it to actually start playback with no controls on the screen blocking the first few seconds of video, you know just like how it is on the Roku app! Someone do something about this!

Surely on a mobile you should be using the appropriate Android/iOS app?

For playback, yes.

For server management, impossible, since Plex never thought it would be appropriate to include that.

Emby has that perfected, their web UI is easily manageable on mobile, and their android app offers the same UI.

Try it if you haven’t, you’ll understand how great it is.
