"Genre Radio" logic + feature request

I really like plexamp (v3.5). I’m trying to find the best way to use it according to my setup and massive music library.

It seems the Super Sonic feature would be ideal for me to really enjoy my music library at its fullest. However, my server runs on a QNAP NAS (i.e. ARM), so such feature is not available.

After lots of thinking, it seems a solution based on “genres” in my music library would be the next best thing for me.

Plexamp lists 70+ genres in my case but I typically want to play songs from more than one genre at a time. I found Plexamp has the “Genre Radio” feature, which offers me 4 stations - so I assume it groups those 70+ genres into 4 main ones. However, I haven’t been able to figure out what logic it is using to come up with those 4 groups in order to tweak the genres in my collection to get to the grouping I want.

Is that detail you guys could share?

Probably what I’m looking for at the end of the day is a way to create a station based on some rules (e.g. songs meeting one or more provided genres, and optionally other criteria like, year in between two provided dates). That would lead to playlists that are dynamic - they would automatically include new music that is added to the library meeting such criteria.

I guess the last resource is to keep using (and maintaining) “static” playlists.

Thanks!

There’s a threshold for a number of albums, beneath which it doesn’t bother showing you an entry, so the solution is to add more albums

You can do that today by making a smart playlist or just playing a dynamic filter. Use the filter icon in the action bar.

Wow! Thanks for blowing my mind! :slightly_smiling_face:

Keep up the awesome work, Plex team!
