@tom80H
This is the same old solution which has been proposed for several years old and the complaint has been the same; It does not work in a satisfying way.
The complaint has been from paying users have still not recived at real solution.
It will still leave the section as emty looking like there are no videos. Which require users to click on the menu of all videos.
So how do we get rid of the RECOMMENDED TAB?

So will Plex admit that this is something that they won’t do for their paying users or will they use time to change this part of the code?

I was asking if you solution would force a user to update to any version higher thant 1.7.4!

This reply was in response to bwt615’s point (“maybe adding a way to control the ordering and sections”) – I’m aware that managing recommendations doesn’t address removing the recommendations for good.

Still not sure what app you don’t want to update beyond version 1.7.4 – if this is a version of Plex Media Server, it’s rather ancient (version 1.7.4 was released in June 2017 and you probably shouldn’t run that anymore).

I’m aware that managing recommendations doesn’t address removing the recommendations for good.

Thanks for your straight answer. I appriciate it.

The 1.7.4 version is ideal as it was the last version where Plex really appriciated the paying users privacy.
Which makes it ideal for people who only wanted Plex for their private video collection.

So when is this going to happen? It all my own content I don’t need it recommended to me.

Never.

I guess ignoring paying customers is one option

Its normal behaviour for compagnies and politicians. As soon as they have your money they don’t care.
It’s why I stopped buying lifetime passes/services. It might be cheap when I have my spreedsheets open, but service and influence drops to almost nothing.
I like voting with my feet.

disable “Recommended Tab” please !

  • misunderstanding issue: family members watching my plex library from abroad, dont understand “recommendation” tab, they even dont see those tabs and think, thats all, because recommendation is in first place. why is this so important?

  • personally, i dont want recommends at all, just want to see my film library. if i wanted recommends, i certainly browse rotten tomatoes.

please option delete this nightmare!

You keep repeating that this is not planned, yet people seem to ask for it again and again.

Could you elaborate as to why it is not planned?

I get your argument that some users might like having recommendations. Having a setting that allows server admins to turn off recommendations (or clients to hide it) would not interfere with that and leave everyone happy?

I would also like to chime in for the option to disable the Recommended tab. It is of no use to me and confusing to the less technical in my family. At the very least, you should not keep resetting my library views back to Recommended when I have specifically set them all to Library view.

At least respect my clearly indicated preferences. It makes it seem that you are trying to force us into Recommended view. Why would that be? If I set the system to Library view, that choice should be persisted, just as in other applications. Imagine a web browser that you set to dark mode. Now imagine it switching itself back to light mode arbitrarily and repeatedly so after you fix the mode.

There are plenty of people in this thread that want the option. It seems that the least Plex could do is give us a clearly stated reason not to do so. Because we all know that the reason is not a lack of interest from paying users.
