I’ve searched and searched the forums and cannot find a single user that thinks forcing the Recommended tab on users is helpful…much less…even desirable! Can we please PLEASE get the option to control how our libraries are presented to users with a server-side setting to enable/disable this horrible feature. I’m constantly telling my users they need to quit using the forced recommended default when they have difficulty finding content.
This feature is HORRIBLE and should be a simple change that would be LOUDLY cheered by many.
I can say with absolute certainty that the Recommended tab will not be removed. However, there are some features coming this year which will allow server owners greater curation and control of what appears on that tab.
Well, plenty of folks share with people that may not know the content as intimately as the server owner, and for them, there is benefit in that tab, plus things like On Deck or Continue Watching that appear on those tabs.
The media is familiar to the server owner yet it’s Plex that is deciding how it’s presented.
It seems that is the concern people have. It’s not the options provided it’s the lack of conttol.
I personally don’t have a problem with my users. They’ll either learn how to manipulate Plex or they won’t. I would like the ability to set a default for my own clients though.
I don’t mind it being there. We can switch to Library easily.
I would like to have control to decide which view was the default. At least for my own accounts.
As a lifetime PlexPass holder and someone who has recommended others purchase the lifetime PlexPass, I am utterly appalled at the fact that so many requests for this option have been flatly denied. In fact, the way it was communicated in other threads could easily have been replaced with a big image of a middle finger. Plex is being very disrespectful to its customers. Not a way to run a business.
What we Plex users see happening is much more important than what is said. What we see is that Plex, more often than not, responds to only what Plex wants and ignores most user requests or problem reports.
Bugs are ignored while features that have been rarely, if ever, been requested are implemented. What does that show but a disregard of your customer base weather Plex Pass or not?
I guess you’re not seeing all the lists of bug fixes that are regularly documented in the release notes for all the different apps in the announcements category?
There are plenty of things that have been feature requests that we’ve added, including most recently 2FA and HDR Tonemapping for transcodes, both of which were highly requested. We won’t ever be able to please everyone or get to every request, but to say we ignore user requests or bug reports is just wrong. We may not implement the things you want, but as a blanket statement, it’s just wrong.
I guess it’s like everything in life. We don’t like change.
I have libraries set up the way I want them. I never use Recommended and seldom even use On Deck or CW. Not bcause I don’t think they are useful, just because I have always gone to the library.
