Getting CGNAT

having done a search, i cannot see a clear way round CGNAT to enable remote access for several users… is this correct or has anyone got a guide to set up a work around? i’ve looked at tailscale but there are no walkthroughs that are simple to follow. no issues in setting a oracle cloud VPS, just need the technical steps so i can follow.

Anyone able to help please?

Contact your ISP and opt out of CGNAT, this is normally Free. Static WAN IP is another way but it has a Monthly fee.

What are you using as a server for plex? I would definitely look into tailscale. Its free for 100 devices. Not sure how many users so you might have to share a login with the ones you trust. You could also get a vps and route your traffic through that but thats a lot more complicated.

Yeah, in the UK it’s not simple… the ISP i was with wouldnt entertain any conversations, so i had to move (was lucky as was within the cooling off period!). all sorted now as get fixed IP as standard

Win11, physical PC… Can happily rebuild to Linux, as long as no CLI stuff required and it’s gui led… my tech days are well gone! I looked at traitscale, but there are no simple set up guides / walkthroughs so gave up on it.

Tailscale is super easy to use. You just install it amd get a key from your account on their web dashboard and paste it into the application on you machine. Done. I have it running on my truenas server, my linux and windows pcs and my phone. I can connect to any of them from anywhere directly. I also have ubiquiti tunnel to connect to my network but I like having options for fail over.
