I know this has been asked many times and I’m sorry to ask again. My ISP is Starlink so currently remote access is only possible using Plex relay. I know there are third-party methods to get around the CGNAT so that using relay isn’t necessary, and without client apps needing to do anything (eg: Cloudflare or ngrok), but what is everyone’s preferred method? From what I’ve understand, any third-party method will have some kind of limited bandwidth (like Plex relay at 2mbps max) so which has the least limited bandwidth? My Plex server runs on a Windows 10 Pro laptop connected to the router via ethernet. The router is a TP-Link Deco X55 AX3000 with the SL router in bypass mode. The laptop has a static IP set in the Deco app. Most client apps are Android mobile or Android TV.
I’m not on CGNAT so no need for workarounds with Plex, but I use Tailscale with my JellyFin server to avoid the need for SSL certificates. It works very well with no apparent bandwidth restrictions or data caps, and setting it up is simplicity itself.
Thanks again. I had a look at that Reddit page but it seems to be just a discussion about Tailscale funnel with no instructions on how to set it up. There is a link to the Tailscale website info about funnel but, unfortunately, I can’t really make head nor tail of it. I’ll have to some research and see if I can find a more user-friendly tutorial.
