Getting DNS requests from random IP addresses?

Hi, I have just recently started using Plex for my Apple TV 3, and it works perfectly!

Only issue is that recently I have noticed that I am getting random DNS requests; tracing the IP shows they are from random places like China or a university in the Netherlands. I was just wondering if this is anything to be worried about, or if it is normal, or if there is anything I can do to stop this?

I have attached a picture of the type of requests I have been receiving.

I have tried searching through the forums and google, but don't really know what to search for and haven't found anything.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Sounds like your Plexconnect machine is either in a DMZ or you have port 53 forwarded on your router. Both of these are really bad practice as it opens the plexconnect DNS service to the outside world. Which as you have seen gets used for other purposes as plexconnect is not a secure DNS service(and is not designed to be that way)

I see. For some reason DMZ was enabled on my router (but not for the IP of my server). I have disabled it and see what happens now. Port 53 was not forwarded on my router.

Thanks a lot for your help and will keep you posted.

I seen this issue previously also:
