Getting "Indirect Connection to Server" with plex app, even on the same network

Server Version#: Latest

Hi. I’ve an unraid server on which I’ve installed plex in a docker container. This Unraid server is connected the only router I’ve in my house. While on laptop, I can successfully access the plex library by “SERVERINTERNALIP:32400” and can play content without any issue.

But as soon as I install the plex app on my phone, android TV or open plex.tv website and login via my credentials, I always get a “limited connection” warning and I can’t enjoy media above the quality of 480p. This is so sad having movies in 4k and browsing them in 480p.

All my devices are on the same router/network/internet connection. The point to note is that I reside in India and almost every ISP keeps us behind a CG-NAT, so forget about port forwarding and ■■■■. My ISP is a ■■■■■■ and doesn’t even allow me to log into the router to even make primary changes. Do I need to make changes in the router to access my plex library even on the same network (While using app/website)?

Is there some solution to it? TIA!

Can you double-check the network configuration of your container. Even if the host is in the same network/subnet, the container can establish its own network.

Hi! Thanks for replying! I’m currently using a custom bridge network to my plex docker. Is it creating a problem? Here is a pic:

The different network modes are explained in the guide linked in my previous post.
