Where do you guys get your media like movies and tv shows for your media server? I’m looking over my options to add some media to to my media server. So I’m interested to see what you’ll like to do.
We buy them and rip them, what else

I have several bluray movies and tv shows however I don't have a bluray disc drive to rip them. I have bought several movies and tv shows off iTunes as well but they don't seem to work when I play them on the media server. Any other options?
buy a bluray drive.
FYI. (and im not saying you are asking for it). any discussion of how to get things illegally is not to be done in these forums
Yeah BigWheel I asked because I want to know any ways I can get movies excluding illegal sources, so thank you for clearing that up cause I'm not interested. So any other legal methods you use please post here cause I'm listening.

BigWheel told you the only option.....Go buy a BlueRay for your computer

the thing is even the digital copies you get on some blueray purchases will have drm usually on them so taking the time to rip them is the only thing you can do.
well unless you are into generally old films in the public domain http://www.loc.gov/rr/mopic/pubdomain.html
I usually buy all my movies and tv shows through iTunes because I use my Apple TV for it, but I come to like Plex much better. However, after a little research last night I came across this:

And the article to back it:

It also claims be legal, how I don't really know, but I'll take their word for it.
Let me know what you think.
If you have Playon and Playlater, then Playlater can be used to download and save a copy of any video you have access to through Playon, from premium services like Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, etc. as well as non-premium channels. Media Mall (the company that provides Playon and Playlater) says it's legal.
Either purchase DRM free digital media, or rip BluRays/DVDs you own.

I am also using this excellent product to deal with my purchased and rented movies in iTunes. It is really good at transfer iTunes media files to other devices.

It is well-know that iTunes movies are FairPlay DRM protected, that is why that normally you can’t play them on Plex. But with a itunes DRM media converter, you should be able to strip DRM and enjoy them elsewhere.
