Getting: "No conversion profile found for protocol dash" when cycling through pictures.

When going through the pictures in my library, I can click on a picture, and the picture will display fine. However, when I try to go to the next picture, I get the error:

Cannot convert this item. No conversion profile found for protocol dash.

I am using latest PlexPass version 1.8.3.4235.

Any help will be appreciated.

What is your OS?
What is your Browser?
What happens when you go directly to a picture that causes the error, rather than going from the previous photo to the next?
What is the file format and size of the picture?
Which Plex app are you using?
Can you provide the log files from your Plex server?

This just started happening to me last night after I ran the server update. I have Plex running on a PC and a MAC - two servers - different content. But both servers started belching out the “Cannot convert this item. No conversion profile found for protocol dash.” error. I use Firefox and the Plex app for MAC and PC.

Me too. 2 servers (one on Synology NAS and another PC based) showing the same error. Seems fine on Firestick, but note in Chrome or Safari browsers on MAC.

New user and getting same Error. Also will not display a panoramic photo, gives error “Unable to load photo”

Don’t know about the error, but if your panoramic photo (or any photo) is over about 100MB, Plex probably won’t be able to display it. Known issue.

Same error on 1.8.3 and 1.8.4.

When loading the picture direct no problem. It only occurs when you hit the ‘Next’ arrow.

Ubuntu 64-bit
Chrome Browser

I´m getting the same problem.

same error on osx server and webapp client latest version

@keithah, @tobiashieta - we have a widespread problem here that needs attention, can you help?

I am also having this issue. Not noticed before as I have not been through the photos much but:

PMS: 1.9.0 in ls.io docker on unRAID
Client: Facebook on Windows 10 x64
Photos: Taken on Apple iPhone (probably iOS 10 or above)

Photos open absolutely OK on normal windows photo preview and paint.

I’m having this issue too.

Plex version: plexmediaserver_1.9.0.4252-d07c1f408_amd64
OS: Ubuntu 16.04
Browser: Google Chrome

I’m having the same issue on a QNAP TS-541A with the latest Plex Server Version 3.20.5

@keithah @kinoCharlino

I see this occasionally too. My server is on Linux Mint 17.2, and I’m using Firefox. Whether I’m manually hitting ‘Next’ to cycle through pictures, or letting the slideshow play automatically, every once in a while the ‘…protocol dash’ message appears.

Ah, I found another thread with this response from a Plex employee:

just updated to Version 1.9.2.4285 / Version 3.20.5 and this is still happening. No change.

I cannot view photos at all in plex and have not been able to for quite some time. Is this not a high priority bug to fix?

as of Version 3.20.8 this seems to be fixed. Thankyou plex team
