Ok, I attached the log from Plex Web.
Thanks for the log. Unfortunately, there is nothing reported why the playback doesnāt work.
There is a setting in IE to enable gpu acceleration or something like that. I canāt remember the exact wording right now. Check if that is on, if so turn it off and see if it helps.
I still get the same error in IE as what jasonmcintyre posted a picture of earlier in this thread. GPU acceleration Enabled or disabled makes no difference. Chrome works fine though so I will continue to use that until this can be figured out. It is odd that it works on some computers with IE but not others. There must be something else getting in the way of it working properly. Do you think it could be a codec or transcoder issue?
Just an FYI, The majority of my movies are saved as mkvās. I had been trying to get the mkvās to play without success so I tired to play some mp4ās I have on my server today and had success with the mp4ās and they played without error in I.Eā¦
Itās possible that there is something in the MKV that is incompatible with IE 11. Most of my files are MP4, which could explain why it works for me. Let me find an MKV and test.
I was able to recreate the issue with an MKV file. Good find.
This is exactly what I reported in this thread, https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/286111/internet-explorer-11-wont-play-mkv-or-avi-files-since-updating-server-to-1-8-3-4235. Both .mkv and .avi files donāt work as of 1.8.3.4235 in Windows 7 and IE11 but .mp4 files work just fine. All file types work just fine on the same system when using Chrome or Firefox to run the Plex Web App.
@ryanthieme - Thanks. I was not aware of that thread.
This issue has now been reported internally to the team and they are investigating.

Much appreciated. I do think it interesting that someone in my thread said that after rolling the PMS version back, the issue went away. I donāt know how to rollback to a previous version, and have been too busy between work and family to really research it. My biggest concern is the sanctity of my existing library status (movie posters, watched/unwatched status), so if itās possible not to lose that, and thereās a thread that outlines the process, Iām happy to give it a try. I have a sneaking suspicion that rolling back to the version prior to 1.8.3.4235 will probably allow me to start playing .mkv and .avi files in IE11 on my 2 Win7 systems.
On Windows, to roll-back, you uninstall PMS and reinstall the version you want. This will not destroy your current setup as uninstalling does not remove that data. Youād have to remove these manually.
Still a problem on 1.9.4.4325

Given this was all that was contained in the update, I wasnāt optimistic that things would be working.

The problem is actually in PlexWeb. We havenāt found the fix yet but hopefully soon.

Out of curiosity, have you been able to internally reproduce the condition?

Are there any updates on this issue? When can a resolution be expected?
The devs have identified what they believe is the issue and are working on a fix. No ETA, but hopefully soon.
Any further update in the last couple of weeks?
This should have been fixed in Plex Web 3.27.1. If not fixed for you, you have a different issue than the one we identified. Please start a new thread with logs.

This is not fixed. Iām still getting the same āPlayback Error - Streaming this media is unsupportedā with .avi and .mkv files in Internet Explorer 11 that I originally reported. Those same files play in Firefox and Chrome.
Web Player logs attached.
