<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug Ok, I finally bit the bullet and bought Plex Pass since the price was about to jump. One of the things it says it does is skip commercials. is this only for DVR content. I have other content in my library with commercials and it isn’t skipping. It also isn’t skipping the intro or credits. I have restarted the entire server and it shows I have it. what am I doing wrong?
I think you have to put files in one of a few folders or tell the directory is that type to get it to scan. I had some windows tv files that I let plex remove commercials by converting them to a file plex knows then placing them as TV or Movies
OK, the folders were there before. I have told Plex to scan again and still no luck. Should I kill the tv show folder and rebuild it?
A) this will take time depending on the size of your library
B) Plex does some of these tasks during scheduled maintenance windows
C) You can try using the analyze function of the library to start a non-scheduled task for this
D) You can use Webtools-ng to force the two different scheduled tasks to run outside of scheduled windows.
I didn’t see it mentioned, but you need to ensure you’ve enabled ad detection for your library (or libraries) before ad detection will work. Edit the library, navigate to the Advanced tab, and find the Ad detection setting toward the bottom. Ensure it is set to “For all items.”
After that is configured, you can manually analyze items (or entire shows). Also be sure to configure the server’s Settings → [Select Server] → Library → Generate ad video markers setting to match your preferences.
I have enabled ad detection. I have analyzed the library and it shows sections as ads. I have said to skip ads automatically. It still shows the ads.
That setting needs changed on all devices, and on some (Web) I know the settings can be… odd…
For example I can never get skip intros to automatically work via the web, but when set on other players works just fine.
I have done it on the Roku app and i phone player. Still the same result.
Can you please provide the XML info (click orange link for for directions) of an episode which has gone through ad detection? (If you’re using Safari you need to enable its developer options to be able to collect the XML info.)
If it truly has commercial markers you should at the very least see the “Skip Ads” button whenever there are commercials.
