So i have Remote access just fine working with PIA disabled. But as soon as I enable it does not work. I have turned on port forwarding and I change the port manually in PMS that PIA gives me.
From what I understand it is not necessary to add or change the port forwarding in the router.
Hummmm
that’s unfortunate for you, because if it didn’t work immediately for me - I’d be in trouble…lol
I’ll send you to the only other place I know:
Search Winders with the little mag/glass for:
windows firewall
and that should be enough to get you to the place where you ‘allow an app through…bla, bla’:
You’re probably going to have only one ‘Plex’ (I suspect one of those Plex’s is the Winders Player App, Plex can’t seem to name so it can be identified), but the idea is a recent Winders update may have fiddled with those switches - the correct state is disabled publicly. As shown (twice).
Of course, I didn’t know which one was which, so…
Yea, that’s about as much I dare tell ya, 'cause I’m clueless.
PIA Exclusions worked instantly out of the gate, and Boy am I happy.
I will offer this:
Remote Access has to be working flawlessly - then you Exclude Plex and it should continue to work flawlessly bypassing the VPN entirely. <—which is the sole reason for PIA’s work to exclude Plex from it’s ‘protection’.
Also make sure you have the most recent PIA client, Of course, and do alter/check/test on the local Plexweb, not the hosted app. I don’t know if it makes a difference - just don’t is my motto.
