giant lot of Album metadata. Is there a way to reduce the size?
IE: if it delete it, would it auto-rebuild and be smaller.

It’s pretty much a “don’t touch” situation.
The Plex data folder contains the database as well as a lot of artwork (for movies e.g. also video thumbs). If you’re desperate for the file space – you could disable some features that require a lot of disc space from within Plex (e.g. Generate video preview thumbnails or Generate chapter thumbnails in Settings > [Server Name] > Library).
those have both been disabled. and I ran optimize and trash empty too.
