Google Drive import

Hello,

I have a large spoke on Google Drive. How can I integrate Google Drive into Plex without having to have my PC switched on. I can mount Google Drive as a drive on my PC with Plex, but not directly with Google Drive. or which way do I have to go? I urgently ask for help.

Thank you very much.

Mario (Plex Pass user)

You’ll need some device that’ll be running your actual Plex Media Server.
There’s some caveats when it comes to using Google Drive as main storage for PMS, primarily when it comes to regularly scanning/analyzing/refreshing your media in Plex’ library (which can result in some bans from Google).

Hi Tom,

thanks for answering. Iam sorry about my english.
I have WD MY CLOUD HOME and there is running PLEX.
The hardware import from Google Drive, but my WD MYCLOUD HOME
has a limit of 8 TB and my Google Drive account is unlimited.
So i think after 8 TB is finish but my Google Drive account can more.

My hoping was to connect direct PLEX with my Google Drive account.

Thanks again.

IIRC the WD MyCloud Home is rather limited when it comes to using anything but the built-in standard shares for Plex.
Technically it should be possible to mount the Google Drive on the MyCloud Home. This will probably need you to access the NAS using SSH and create a remote share (not sure if WD supports that using the NAS’ control center). You would then need to add that new volume/share to your Plex libraries ( > Manage Library > Edit...Add Folder) – that is assuming your WD MyCloud Home PMS can connect to anything but the preconfigured local shares.

Hi, Tom.
Thanks again for your fast answering. Woow.
Your are so clever… But I dont know, how can I do that…
I just take a lok inside my WD MYCLOUD HOME or PLEX.

Older Plex versions are supported Google Drive , is that correct ?

Thanks again… all the best.

Mario.

A “WD MyCloud” might allow that,
but I seriously doubt that it will be possible on a “WD MyCloud Home”.
The “Home” devices are much more restricted.

The “Home” devices initially used Android as their OS. (Although it is said that some of them might be switched to Linux with a firmware update.)

Hi, I have running MYCLOUD HOME with Plex - everything allright.
WD has PLEX and get the files from my WD. It works very good for me.
Well, WD import all the files to the MYCLOUD with 8 TB limit.
But my Google Drive has unlimited, and would like connect PLEX direct
to my Google Drive without my WD MY CLOUD HOME.

Thanks again. Mario

You cannot, unfortunately.
You will always need a device which can run the Plex server software.
Your Google drive is just storage, not computing. Therefore it will not run Plex server.
