It appears all the Google TV apps have issues with 4k with there own quirks. They all skip and start buffering with good signal and the plex server on the local network. Just got a QM8 hisense tv for my bedroom and it has the same issue with 4k.

I can play 4k only by first starting to play the content then switching to adjust automatically. Which set the the content to 4k @ 50Mbps.
Casting doesn’t work any better just stutters. Hisense 55QM8

Casting allows me to play at full quality with high bitrates 57Mbps was showing in the plex dash.
Same issue on Hisense android/google tv, version 10.28.0.3441. Loading circle of doom on new 4k DV/HDR files (.mkv, DoVi Profile 8.1). Some older 4k HDR files work fine so I’m not sure the difference. Audio stream on the problem 4k files is TrueHD but I can’t get the files to play even when switching audio streams. Files work fine on browser/mobile/shield.
Edit: I also just tried and casting from a phone to the tv works fine. Dashboard shows video is direct streaming 4k DoVi/HDR10 (HEVC Main 10) and audio is transcoding from TrueHD 7.1 to OPUS. Seems like there is an issue with the android/google tv application.
Tried with a few old versions of the plex android tv client. Still not able to play these specific files unless I “convert automatically” or cast from a phone, which then the tv is able to direct play.
