I’ve recently started using plex with a new Google TV. It works great while streaming my own movies and series from my server, but as soon as I try to stream live TV the app crashes and restarts. It does not happen right away, but often after 5-10min of streaming. Anyone experiencing the same thing? (My TV backend is m3u and xteve)

I would start there, I have an HDHomerun and have no problems on my Google TV.
The thing is that I’m only experiencing crashes on Google TV. Not my LG TV, not on Windows or browser. For me it looks like a android app problem or the Google TV device itself.

I am having the same issue. Plex works fine on Roku but on Google TV it will crash when changing from one live tv channel to a different one.
My Plex server is Windows and I have a HD Home Run tuner.
I’m having this issue too. I have up-to-date Plex clients running on Windows, Nvidia Shield and Chromecast w/ Goolge TV. The only one that’s crashing when navigating in Live TV is the Chromecast w/ Google TV app. I have a Plex Server running on Windows and another one running on NVidia Shield…having the same problem when connected to either server.

Debian Linux server up to date Linux and Plex server versions. Latest HDhomerun 4 tuner with firmware up to date.
Local media plays perfectly without issue via CCwGTV and Plex Web player.
Recorded TV shows play without issue on Plex Web player. CCwGTV app plays recordings virtually issue free after either setting up transcoding and/or advanced setting IO Buffering to off.
Live TV plays fine on Plex Web player and basically fine on the app.
Currently recording TV (either “Play from start” or play live) plays without crashing on Plex Web player but there are serious issues with the progress bar getting out of sync (losing the ability to skip or know where you are in the show) making it almost impossible to watch in this mode. Watching in this mode via the app is unusable with crashes of the app happening mostly related to skipping ff/rev and just randomly while watching. Totally unusable.
I’ve been pulling my hair out on this issue and have arrived at the conclusion the the app running on the CCwGTV streaming dongle is simply not ready for prime time
I am also having the same problem. I am using the Plex app on Chromecast with Google TV. When I am watching a live tv channel from the antenna/hdhomerun, the app will crash most of the time when I go back to the guide.

I understand the root of the problem is watching the original MPEG2VIDEO Direct Streamed/Played from the server to the CCwGTV. It’s simply unstable in the Plex app code or CCwGTV device itself. Everything I see points to the Plex app code quality.
They key is to configure the Plex app such that it always gets transcoded to H264.
I’ve attached a link to my solution for fully recorded TV content at the bottom of this post.
That solution does not work for live TV or currently recording (timeshifted) TV. The quality never bumps up to better quality with the settings as described.
For live TV I have to watch using Plex Web in a browser.
From what I read this issue seems almost completely related to the Plex app on the CCwGTV.
