Google Update Engine for OSX

alternative to sparkle...?
Hey Elan,

Was crawling around the internet today when i stumbled upon this [announcement](http://googlemac.blogspot.com/2008/09/revving-software-with-update-engine.html) from Google Last week. I know you've mentioned a few times that you would prefer something a bit better than sparkle for the auto updating in Plex, maybe this is it...[the Google Update Engine for OSX](http://code.google.com/p/update-engine/)

Leigh.

It is definitely an alternative, but it doesn’t appear to offer a compelling advantage over Sparkle in the form of my beloved incremental updates

Thanks for posting about it!

you know … ideally … and update service/prog like Sparkle would only do (like elan said) an incremental update of just a few mb … not a complete download

but alas … i guess rsync updates are too difficult to program into this type of autoupdate protocol

Hrm. Would it be able to do user interactions within Plex’s normal UI contexts, or would it require a pop up dialogue box like sparkle appears to?

Sparkle can be sub-classed to allow for custom user interfaces. I don't know how to do this with Plex's GUI. Can a dev let us know if this is possible/planned.

I am looking into setting up Plex as a Finder replacement, disabling the Dock, and want to get rid of the need of Keyboard/Mouse. Unfortunately, the Sparkle Updater still requires the use of the Keyboard/Mouse....

Already done :) it'll be part of the new 0.7 series.
