Hi, I was looking at selling my Roku and switching to RasPlex., I had some question about RasPlex.
Alright well first, I only use two apps on my roku. Plex and YouTube that’s all, I care about personally. So I know everything should be fine with plex. I do have concerns about YouTube is a huge deal with me. Now if i can just get the casting feature. That’s okay with me! Long as it’s functional.
Second what kind bugs/glitches does RasPlex have that might cause issues or crashes. I will be using the raspberry pi 3 for better performance.

rasplex is a self contained setup for plex and cant be modded for adding youtube support
Its not that a rpi cant run youtube, it can, but not from rasplex. At least not out of the box and with an easy cast to the rpi option.
I have seen some solutions for raspbian which more or less catches the youtube link and downloads it with youtube-dl. But it doesnt have any of the easiness of a cast.
Buuuut…
that doesnt mean you cant tell your plex server to download from youtube the videos you want on a regular basis and add it as content to plex using the metadata from youtube. Thats what I do, I made a conjob that downloads every night the content from the channels I want and add it as movies or series inside Plex.
I can’t check right now for details but I do have the unofficial store installed on my plex server and could install a youtube channel which does about anything youtube related I need. Try and google it
