install plex media server on rasplex ?

okay so after countless hours of searching online i’ve came to the conclusion the only way to get an answer is to start my own thread,
so i have a raspberry pi 3 and want to install rasplex on it to be able to use it with my tv, however it will need to have plex media server running too, so how would (if possible) i install it so i can stream to my laptop etc. ?

thanks in advance to anyone that can offer some help

This isn’t really possible. Rasplex is embedded, meaning it comes with it’s own OS filesystem. This filesystem is SquashFS which has limited readwrite functionality. Plex has always been a Server-Client software and not an individual device solution.

You’d want use a standalone type setup like LibreELEC version of Kodi.

Though, some people setup a Plex Media Server on one Raspberry Pi and use the Rasplex/OpenPHT client on others. It works pretty well for a couple of clients provided they are local and don’t need to transcode.
