GPU Transcoding stopped working? FIXED!

Server Version#: 1.15.3.876
Player Version#: Android - Fault is on any client/player used.

I have been enjoying using a potato Quadro 600 in my Plex Server and appreciated seeing it being used when transcoding. Although with the same card, and no options changed, transcoding on this card is not happening anymore.

Has there been a Plex update that has stopped this feature? Maybe for older cards like the Quadro 600?

My Xeon E5 2670 doesn’t have Quick Sync, which is why I enjoyed the pleasure of GPU transcoding.

So, an update may have killed Transcoding on my old 600. So I brought a K2200, installed drivers, and it transcodes!

It seems that you need a card that supports NVENC technology.

Below is a link to a site that explains how to determine if your card supports this tech…

p600 should be fine with plex transcoding.

my p400 still works this very second with the latest plex update.

the official nvidia list is @ https://developer.nvidia.com/video-encode-decode-gpu-support-matrix

That’s strange.

I removed my Quadro 600 today because it just stopped Transcoding. Probably for the last month.

K2200 works brilliantly.

k2200 is an older card, so you may want to take time to figure out why it stopped working (could be hardware failure or some other software/config change other than plex).

I even tried a Quadro 4000, Plex didn’t want to know.

I have a Quadro 600 which used to work, doesn’t now. Even though drivers install fine and the card shows in Task Manager.

I also have a Quadro 4000, which performs the same as above.

Obtained a K2200, which despite being old, should out perform the other cards, and it just works.

I also see that I mentioned “P600” when in fact I meant 600.
