GPU utilization with beta 1.17.0.1909

I have 2 GPU’s an RTX 2070 and P2000. Prior to this update PMS would utilize whichever GPU that was being used as my primary display for HW transcoding. Now it only uses my RTX card which is assigned as GPU 0 in task manager. Is there a way to get PMS to use my P2000 instead?

You probably saw the post where someone suggested a Windows app that sets the GPU to use? He mentioned something about having to tell it the whole Plex folder was to use that GPU.

I’ve tried it, nothing works and I would rather not setup a VM. I wish there was a drop down box in plex to select preferred GPU for transcoding.

Do you think a feature request would help this get noticed? Or maybe post in the Beta forum?
I’d vote it up for sure, and we could prod wingmanz when we see him.

I just posted in the feature suggestion section.

Great. Now on your request in the upper left corner, click VOTE to vote for your own idea xD.
I’m headed there now.

Even with my RTX card unplugged from a display plex still uses that card. If it were the other way around this would have been fantastic! I wonder what in plex decides which GPU it wants to use now.

Have you tried switching the slots the video cards are plugged into?

I was going to, but my RTX card is too long and hits the drive bays in my case :expressionless:

i ordered a new case, if changing which pci slots the cards are in doesnt work… ill just bite the bullet and build a separate pc

any reason why you would want to use the p2k over the 2070?

the 2070 would have the newer nvdec/nvenc hardware, for ostensibly better quality and performance.

I occasionally game and would rather use my p2000 for transcoding while playing a game.
