Green Bar on certain programs

I have an issue with certain tv programs I have ripped. There is a green bar at the bottom of the video when viewed on any device. The program was ripped in MKV. Not all episodes of this particular show are like this, but most are. I don’t know where this came from…. Any help would be appreciated. I am using videobyte DB-DVD to rip the dvds.

I would try another app to Rip to eliminate possible source of problem.

I suggest MakeMKV

I tried that software but nothing happens once it installs. All the menu items are greyed out. And it say it is a beta for some reason 1.18.3 win x64 release. Cannot use a tool that has no viable menu options.

Well I got it to work but boy is this program slow to rip. One 45 minute dvd rips at on 2x. Since I have almost 300 dvd’s this is basically a non starter with my Pioneer BD-RW 209D.

Its always in beta so it stays free.

As for your issue have to restarted your PC

I noticed this too after the last Plex update. I did some experimenting and researching to isolate the problem.

The green bar appears at the bottom of files that are being hardware transcoded through my GPU (which I bought new 6 months ago). The green bar is not present when I check the source file, which was ripped with MakeMKV and compressed with Handbrake).

I turned off the hardware accelerated transcoding option, and the green bar is no longer present. After some digging, I found an old thread (on Reddit, I think) that suggested rolling back your Plex version, which I’m going to try this weekend.

Unfortunately, that’s not a long term solution for me since I don’t want to be running with an outdated server, and I want to use hardware transcoding to my CPU doesn’t have Plex and Handbrake fighting over it.

TL;DR: Check and see if it’s being hardware transcoded. If so, turn it off.

EDIT: If your problem videos had PGS subtitles, check this thread:

Green Bar with PGS Subtitles

Turns out my ripping software would create this bar if I picked the option to enhance video. If I don’t use that option and just rip the original quality all is fine.
