so… Feb 2020 and Plex is still flipping off LG WebOS by not implementing a guide?
Are there even any plans to ever implement a guide for us?

I am still having the same problem. It’s very bad right now… Trying to watch ANY tv show is next to impossible. This TV needs a guide really really really bad… Can someone from PLEX please let us know whats going on with this?
+1 here too.
No guide and can only see tv shows not movies that are running. Works great in Emby (shame I can’t swap my lifetime plex for an emby lifetime).
Please add guide to LG WebOS
+100 to the need for a grid view on LG (or WebOS in general).
+1
please
+10000
I have two LG TV’s and this is really frustrating to find anything on TV through Plex Live TV
For the love of god please add the channel guide to the WebOS Plex app
+1 as well - it’s almost unusable in it’s current form especially for those using cable. For example, to tune CNN, I have to figure out what “show” is on CNN and then search for that. at the VERY least can we get some additional listings in the “On Now” and potentially a “News on now” or something?
I am having exactly the same problem as sahilm! Why aren’t all shows displayed in “Shows on Now”? Without a grid guide or a full listing of currently airing shows, I have to resort to cumbersome searches AFTER I’ve gone to the trouble of figuring out what show to search for. Think about the CNN use case: you don’t necessarily care what the show is called, you just want to watch the news!
The best workaround I’ve found is to identify the show name using the Plex app on my phone and then searching for it.
I have a 2018 Samsung smart TV and a 2019 LG OLED smart TV. Neither of these platforms have the grid guide. It’s incomprehensible why this would be omitted when other platforms like the Fire TV Stick, IOS, ROKU, etc have it.
As the grid guide has been live on these other platforms for ages, surely it cannot be too difficult to implement it on LG and Samsung?
So +1 please.
I have created a post that is only about the issue of us not being able to watch Live TV. Maybe if we post here: Can't watch most Live TV due to bug in WebOS and focus on the one issue - not being able to watch most live tv channels on WebOS when it works on other clients - maybe we can get some traction. It’s worth a shot, because this has been an issue for a really long time now.
I also submitted a ticket here: Contact | Plex about this issue, but I had to mark it as another type of issue. I linked to our original thread here: Grid Guide for LG WebOS in the ticket I submitted.
I don’t know what else to do since there is no trouble ticketing system which is external-facing, despite many of us paying for the product. ? Hopefully it will draw some attention.
Well, a Plex admin closed my thread…
Yes, because having multiple threads for the exact same issue/request is not helpful…
This thread did not begin on the topic that we are all discussing, but there’s never any lack of snarky comments on this forum. Thanks for contributing…oh, wait. You’re not being helpful…
Well, I can view more live tv shows, so that’s great. Sadly, I think what I really wanted was the grid guide.
I noticed this as well. I can now view 21 out of the 30-40 live channels, which is a handful more than previously. Unfortunately, most of the major channels like ABC, NBC and FOX are not the channels I can view, so this issue is not completely resolved. I would open a ticket, but that obviously doesn’t work - even though the issue I made a ticket for is different than the title of this thread.
I’ve started using the grid guide on a computer and then going to INPUT > HDHomerunBlah and then drilling down to the channel which has the content I want as if it was a media file. This is such a silly way to have to watch TV, but it’s still the best option many of us have on 2018 or earlier sets that cost $2000 or more…
@tixetsal My wife hates this. I may have to resort to buying a 4k Apple TV or use another platform, such as the Fire TV Stick 4K to skim by. The Plex app on the TV is kinda slow anyways, but that’s no excuse.
I have an xbox1x connected to this TV, and the app for that platform is so bad that it’s unusable in some scenarios. That’s a $2500 stack that can’t run plex to the full capability between the 2 devices and clients. Well, $2700 when you add what I paid for the plex software.
Hah. I have also considered getting an ATV4k, Roku, Firestick or Shield, and I probably just should at this point…god help us all.
I snagged a firestick 4k for $25 on a special promotion. We’ll see how that experience goes…
