Guide me about PlexPass and how it connect with VPN?

I want to know about PlexPass and how it connect with VPN software or Can plex be made to work over a VPN?

I think you need to provide more details about what you're trying to achieve.

E.g. Are you planing to use a VPN for your clients to connect to the server or are you using a VPN to mask your general internet traffic and you wonder if this will interfere with accessing your plex server?

First I want to know about plex Server.. I use VPN software to mask internet traffic but don't know if this will interfere with accessing your plex server..

Plex will use your default route just like your web browser.

If you want to publish your plex server for access over the internet then you either need to port forward with your VPN provider (bit crappy and often not available) or setup static routes to MyPlex to use your local gateway rather than the VPN gateway then configure port forwarding on your own router/firewall.

There a few threads about doing the latter. MyPlex uses amazon web services and at the moment it's believed that there are 3 IP's for my.plexapp.com however this might change in the future.

I use Free VPN such as Hotspot Shield does it effect on it?

You connect a VPN first then you will use Plex.

Plex is just an app, so it does not matter if it will work

If Plex requires a connection to work, it will work when a VPN is connected.

Sadly not the case.

To access your server from the WWW you must publish it to MyPlex, MyPlex requires that port 32400 (customisable) be forwarded to your server. The VPN will effectively firewall this action so hence what i said before.

Does it Support to all VPN ? I use PureVpn.. It will effective on firewall or can easily access the server..????

This is a very advanced subject. There are several threads on the forums relating to vpn. Not everyone managed to have a working solution.

I went through that whole that and it seems more like a advertisement thread.

Some people suggested to change your port to 110 and it will work. However many other have said that it did connect but couldnt proceed further.. so it seems confusing

May be i did not find the right threads but I remember coming across a few users who got it work. There was a dialogue relating to it within the RARflix thread on the Roku forum - but that thread is over 40 pages long ....

i got your point s2000. and i appreciate your effort,

What i am saying is that I got mixed reviews.

so i am not sure if i will go for a vpn.

Because i dont want to pay, then go for refund and stuff. it is way too trouble some
