Hello,
I’m trying for a few days to solve problem with stuttering on Plex App. I have movie encoded with H265 / HEVC. When I play it from server with Direct Play, movie stutters (sound works, but video loses some frames very often).
I analyzed Plex Server graphs, disc/CPU usage and my WiFi usage, but there were no problems. Then I tried to use custom profile (it didn’t help my problem).
Then I tried to use the same file on the same device. I copied it to my OnePlus phone and run in Plex App - it still stuttered. Same effect was in Gallery app (default video app on phone). But I tried to run it in VLC and everything worked great. Also passing it via DLNA to phone or tv and playing in VLC - no stutter.
I’m quite confident, that Android is lacking some codecs (as problem is the same on two different devices), but both my devices are able to decode HEVC. I could use VLC with DLNA, but then I lose some nice features, like subtitles (that are valuable to me).
Is there any way to ‘enhance’ Play App to use correct codecs (like VLC and probably many more apps on Google Play)? I didn’t find a way to do that to my phone on Plex Forums, OnePlus Forums or XDA
Does Developers plan to make some update in regard to this problem/feature request?
