Trouble with stuttering videos

I have Plex Media Server 1.19.4.2935 installed on my Windows PC and am facing issues watching certain videos on my Android TV. It comes through in an ultra low frame rate, much lower than the source. Around 15 as a guess maybe?

Audio does not have nay problems. The video plays perfectly in Windows Media Player and the Plex web player. I am able to play much larger and higher quality files over my network with no problems but these specific files are giving me trouble.

The file is an .mp4, HEVC with AAC LC audio and is roughly 2.7GB total size.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Can you provide some more details on the video(s) causing this issue?

Also… can you take a look at the Now playing dashboard / tile in Plex Web when you experience the stuttering playback on your Android TV to check:

  1. how it’s being streamed (local, remote, indirect)
  2. if there’s any transcoding (for what streams, regular transcoding vs. hw transcoding)

I’ve attached all the info from Media Info below
Media info.txt (9.1 KB)

My now playing looks like this…
Capture

Thanks.
That doesn’t show any issues / immediate roadblocks.
Could you provide the logs from your Android TV’s Plex client after you experience your video stuttering?

If that file is from this batch - it’s broken:

Specifically if the file is from the above batch with internal Created Date on or before 5/4/2020. The original file can be fixed by simply remuxing with MKVToolNix Version 45.0 or newer.

If the file isn’t in it’s original state - it can’t be fixed.
Reacquire - then fix.

Careful reading of the linked thread will reveal if your file is one of ‘The’ Files.

My file looks like it’s from just a little later than that date but the solution is working. Thanks for your help!

OK. The date is only visible in the metadata. MediaInfo, for imstance, will show it’s creation date.

The fix is easy. 1400 of them… Not so much…lol
