Had to Convert over to Emby

:frowning:

Plex was a great program but I’ve been fighting with several bugs for months now. Just isn’t usable anymore. I tried the server on two computers. On Linux and two Window computers. The same bugs finally creep in.
Thanks to everyone on the forums that tried to help but without official support I can’t get it resolved.
When you pay for TV guide and DVR you expect official help when needed.

Had to go to Emby. So far so good at least on Windows. Could not figure out paths and permissions with the Linux version. Just started diving in to Linux. So back to Windows.

Plex and Emby look quite a bit alike but not exactly. At least no big bugs in Emby so far.
Emby is a bit hard to figure out a few things though.

I am considering this as well. I’ve been a plex pass member for years but I am sick and tired of being told to “plex dance” something when it refuses to pull metadata (even though it matches correctly) and all the other little bugs (like problems streaming a music playlist) that seem never to get resolved.

New features are great - unless the old features stop working. I am trying to figure out what exactly I am paying for because it sure isn’t support.

To get help moving from Plex to Emby is best handled by going to the appropriate Emby forum and asking there.

One of the best parts about Emby is their response to problems and questions. That, as much as anything else, is what separates Emby from Plex.

I have recently had several questions/problems and in every case the Emby people responded VERY quickly. I still use both systems but Emby is getting a LOT more use than Plex. In fact Plex, running on my Shield, is currently only being used for audiobooks.

Thank you for sharing. I was considering getting Plex Pass, but is very apparent that Plex does not support its customers. Not sure what they do with all the money that gets thrown at them. I’m going to start looking at Emby. I they actually cared about their customers we would see moderators posting in these forums constantly assisting.
