Had to reset my Windows 10 laptop. Want to start fresh with Plex. How to reset?

Hi, I recently had to reset my laptop with the Plex media Server on it. I want to wipe my Plex Server so it doesn’t try to find content that’s no longer there. I’m a Premium member and don’t want to create a new account. How can I start afresh with Plex?

Plex Documentation → Uninstall Plex Media Server

No need to create a new account.

  1. Stop Plex Media Server if running.
  2. Uninstall Plex Media Server from PC
  3. Delete registry key as noted in support document
  4. Remove the Plex data (not media) directory as noted in support document.
    Note: The default location for %LOCALAPPDATA% is c:\Users\your_user_name\AppData\Local. The AppData folder is hidden by default. To make it visible, in Windows Explorer, select the view tab, then check the box next to Hidden Items.
  5. Restart your PC
  6. Remove old server from list of authorized devices: https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/devices/pms
