Hi, I’m new to Plex and Media server in general. I’ve started ripping my DVD/ BD library using MakeMKV and Handbrake. My setup is WD PR4100 streaming to a new Roku Ultra. I am sure where the problem was, but thought the Plex users would have the broadest background to help.
I cannot get consistent 5.1 audio encoding from handbrake. It seems that regardless of the audio settings I use, some movies only show up as stereo when I open the movie page in Plex. I’ve tried every passthru (I think), but some movies just don’t show with surround. If I look in Plex I might have 5 audio channels all in stereo. And it’s not the same for every movie. Some movies I can get a 5.1 to work, but others the surround settings just yield stereo.
The only thing that consistently gives surround sound is to skip the Handbrake and just use the full disk rip, which I was hoping to avoid for space saving.
