Server Version#:1.41…4.9463-6309f557
Player Version#:1.105.1.257-3bc35ab9
Hello,
I have plex server and player successfully running on both Win10 and Synology. I am now trying to install to a new Win11 machine.
Install goes smoothly. Starting the server takes me to a page to claim the server, from which I login and then the server is claimed. The Win11 machine shows up as active in my online Plex account.
Then “open Plex” from the systray tells me “not authorized” even though online it is an authorized device. So I stop the server and delete the recommended registry entries (plexonline entries). Restart the server and it asks me to login. Then it hangs “initializing Plex Media Server.” I found another post on the web suggesting deletion of a Plex directory in appData. Tried that too.
I am unable to get past “initializing Plex Media Server.” Eventually it times out saying an error occurred.
What am I doing wrong? Didn’t have this problem with Win10 or Synology! Thank you.
app.plex.tv does show me Plex shares, but only on the two Plex servers that were previously working (Win10 and Synology). Plex Media Server is not operating correctly under Win11 as detailed in my initial post.
That’s a different server at 192.1.1.4 it sees on the network. You can see at top of the Plex Media Server.log the build is Windows. This server is at 192.1.1.12
I don’t see rebinding issues but that isn’t a 1918 private network address afaik which can cause all sorts of issues since it could be owned by a real company. Wondering if it is hosted at a datacenter or something. Looks like tailscale is being used as well but not sure.
I have three servers. 192.1.1.5, 192.1.1.12, and 192.1.1.14. The .14 is the one that doesn’t work.
I am aware that 192.1.1.x is not a private address, but it is a local address for me… It does not affect either of the other Plex servers. No tailscale in use.

Are you really hosting these directly on the public Internet, or are you just using non-RFC1918 addresses on your local LAN? All those IPs are part of a /16 belonging to Raytheon (BTX BBN).
Also, the logs are from 192.1.1.12, the Windows 10 server. From the start of the logs:
Feb 17, 2025 19:42:52.336 [1744] INFO - Plex Media Server v1.41.4.9463-630c9f557 - MSI MS-7885 x64-x64 - build: windows-x86_64 windows - GMT -08:00
Feb 17, 2025 19:42:52.560 [1744] INFO - Windows version: 10.0 (Build 19045), language en-US
The logs entries referencing .14 are log the result of the client running on Windows 11 contacting the working server on .12.
if you can’t initialize the server then you likely can’t get to that server’s settings to grab logs that way and you have to follow the directions to copy the server logs directly from app data folder on computer server is running on…
Going to 192.1.1.14:32400/web is just the web app that can connect to multiple servers at once like any Plex app. When you use the interface to downlaod logs check the server name that shows on the left. It is a drop down of servers whichever is chosen the settings for that server are shown. In this image is two of my servers. with the mediabox one selected.
