Hard drive crashed. Any logs to show me what TV Shows I lost?

Is there a way to see what files I lost on the hard drive that crashed so I can begin to rebuild my catalog?

If the media is still in the Plex database, you can use WebTools-NG to find the missing files.

  • Find Media compares Plex Database entries to files stored on drives

  • Export Tools exports media info from the Plex database, including file location, into a CSV file.

To download, click on “Latest” in Releases on right hand side of web page, then download the .exe file listed under Assets.


Go to Settings → Library and disable Empty trash automatically after every scan.

Do the movies/shows show as unavailable in Plex?

If so, they are still listed in the Plex database.

If not, you can try restoring from a backup: Restore a Database Backed Up via ‘Scheduled Tasks’
