Server Version#: Version 4.87.2
Player Version#:

I just signed for plex pass.

i tried streaming a video to my iPhone, but the Hardware Acceleration not working, my CPU is at 100%

i have a 2nd generation intel processor with quick sync video
Intel(R) Core™ i5-2500 CPU @ 3.30GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 42

what can i do?

thanks

Stop and restart your server, so it can get notified about the Plex Pass.

Peruse this document: https://support.plex.tv/articles/115002178853-using-hardware-accelerated-streaming/

This is a “Sandy Bridge” CPU. Its Quicksync implementation is quite limited by today’s standards.

It can only decode MPEG2, H.264(AVC), and VC-1 video.

So i cant t use hardware acceleration?

That largely depends on your source files.
Use the Plex media info or other tools to determine what codecs they use.
But I reckon with this CPU, you will only ever be able to transcode fairly low-bitrate 1080p AVC video, without burning in subtitles.

4K (+HDR) is completely out of the picture, as it uses the HEVC codec and also usually comes with high-end lossless audio streams which even alone would bring your CPU down to its knees.
You can only use this kind of files with Plex clients which support the original file’s codecs natively, so they won’t require the server to transcode.
The numbers of such clients are fairly limited. “Plex for Windows/Mac/Linux”, “Plex HTPC”, and the nVidia Shield Pro are the main ones. And even these will probably only work if they have a GBit-Ethernet (wired) connection to the server.
Remote access is very unlikely to work with 4K/HDR.

I don’t use it for 4k movies
Only old family videos
but it still not working

Determine the video codec used in them, as mentioned above.

OK, thanks
