Hardware Acceleration via GPU for 4K 10-bit Transcoding

What you need to do is go to the nVidia control panel > under 3d settings > manage 3D settings > Program settings > “Add” - here you select the entire PMS folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex*) - “Select” and you’re done

I’d do a reboot after this and you should be good to go

Yeah for some reason my computer will only show the 750ti in either the settings or the nvidia menu - can’t turn on the hd4000 for any program

Quick update with the P2000.

Saw 8 simultaneous encodes going on the other night (we’ve had more at once but I haven’t caught it in Tautulli). GPU utilization was fluctuating up to 60%.

Decodes still pound the CPU.

I’ve heard zero complaints about quality, stuttering, or overall performance and a couple have shared that it’s quick to add subtitles when selected (versus waiting a few seconds in the past).

One big thing I noticed is sync performance, saw over 30x conversion speed on a tv series sync where it was normally around 6x.

Great clip on Youtube covering HW transcoding with the P2000.

This is interesting, I understood from @OttoKerner, that HW transcoding was not supported with Subtitles, I didn’t think it matter if you were using the onboard GPU or a P2000…

Perhaps that has changed
