Hey Guys,
I just got some hardware to support Plex Hardware Transcoding. It functions out of the box with CentOS 7.
I have found after about 20 seconds of Hardware Transcoding the entire system becomes unstable and crashes in a frozen state… I have to do a hard reset to get things back online.
I cannot find anything in the logs.
Any ideas where I should be looking?
Here are the specifics:
Hardware
Motherboard - SuperMicro X11SSH-LN4F, Chipset 236
CPU - Intel Xeon 1275V6 (Intel Quick Sync Support)
Ram - 32Gb DDR4
Software:
OS CentOS 7.4 64Bit, Kernal 3.10.0-693.17.1.el7.x86_64
Plex - 1.11.3.4793 64Bit
Transcoder Log:

I think your issue might be that centos uses an older kernel than what the support site says is required.

fedora 26 shipped with 4.14.x centos still uses 3.x

Hey ,
Where does it give a minimum kernal version requirement on that page?

It does not say the version. But both ubuntu and the fedora versions mentioned use 4.x. I was given this information when looking into another issue. https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1588964/#Comment_1588964
Hey,
OK ill upgrade the kernal and see whats what.

Cool. Again I am not sure that is the issue but if it were me that is where I would start.
No worries. Im still playing with this new server so no risk.

Confirming, a Fedora/Redhat kernel 4.10 and above is the required.
The minimal supported Fedora distro version is Fedora 26.
Hope this helps shine some light on the issue.
Gents,
This has helped. I’m doing some testing now.
I used this guide to upgrade my kernal:
howtoforge.com/tutorial/how-to-upgrade-kernel-in-centos-7-server/
I will do some testing and if all goes well I will update this post with the steps from start to finish to have HW Transcoding running on CentOS7.

What happens? You refound the new server or did you find a solution?

I need the full ZIP from the session which crashes… DEBUG logging, VERBOSE OFF.
The transcoder log alone is insufficient.
I also need to see the udev rules and directory listing of /dev/dri along with one block of CPU info from cat /proc/cpuinfo with processor flags.
